Commissioners Appoint New Veteran Service Officer

Tom Logan

Sheriff’s Office Captain & Air Force Veteran to Assume Post

Tom Logan has been promoted to County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO). The Hamilton County Commissioners tapped Logan for the post after an extensive interview process.

Logan, a military veteran himself, brings 32 years of experience from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, where he most recently served as a Captain of the Patrol Division. He made significant contributions to the agency through his involvement in the DARE program, the Honor Guard, animal control, and the special Emergency Response Team.

Mark Heirbrandt, President of the County Commissioners, expressed confidence in Logan’s selection, stating, “Tom's unwavering commitment and extensive experience make him the ideal candidate for the job. His deep-rooted sense of public service will undoubtedly elevate the support we provide our veterans."

Logan comes from a long line of military veterans. He even met his wife while they were both serving as security police officers in the United States Air Force at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota. “I’ve served the public my entire life,” Logan says. “Whether defending our country, or working in law enforcement, I bring a lot of lived experience to the job. I’m eager to serve veterans with the utmost respect and in the manner they deserve."

Logan has a bachelor’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. His staff will include two full-time members.
