To the Taxpayers of Hamilton County, State of Indiana:
You are hereby notified that on February 8, 2021, the Board of Commissioners of Hamilton County, Indiana, held a public hearing after publication of notice pursuant to law, concerning Ordinance No. 02-08-21-B, ("the Ordinance"). The Ordinance was approved and established a Major Bridge Fund, ("the Fund") and a tax rate to generate money for the Fund, all pursuant to Indiana Code 36-9-14.5.
The Ordinance provides that the money in the Fund may be used for the purposes listed in Indiana Code 8-16-3.1.
The Fund will be funded by a property tax rate not to exceed $0.0333 on each $100.00 of taxable real and personal property within Hamilton County beginning in 2021 payable in 2022, and each year thereafter, until reduced or rescinded.
Fifty (50) or more taxpayers in the County who will be affected by the tax rate and corresponding levy may file a petition with the Hamilton County Auditor, not later than thirty (30) days after the publication of this Notice, setting forth their objections to the proposed rate and levy. Upon the filing of the petition, the County Auditor shall immediately certify the same to the Department of Local Government Finance, at which point the department will fix a date for and conduct a public hearing on the proposed rate and levy before issuing its approval or disapproval thereof.
