[ARCHIVED] Janet Shaw Charged in Connection with School Bus Crash

In the course of an investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers arrested Janet K. Shaw on Monday, September 21, 2015

Today, the State has charged Ms. Shaw with eight (8) counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger less than 18 years of age, each as a Level 6 Felony; seven (7) counts of leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury, each as a Class A Misdemeanor; two (2) counts of possession of a controlled substance, each as a Class A Misdemeanor; and one (1) count of leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B Misdemeanor.

The charge was filed with a Hamilton County Clerk’s Office and filed into Hamilton Superior Court No. 4 under cause number 29D04-1509-F6-008465.

Ms. Shaw remains held at the Hamilton County Jail and is expected to have her initial hearing on the afternoon of September 22, 2015.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Further inquiries about the litigation may be directed to Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Andre Miksha or to Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Amy B Summerfield. Due to the likelihood of inquiries, the State provides this release and copy of the charging information and affidavits for probable cause for your reference.
