Hamilton County, an Urban County as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), began receiving CDBG funding in 2004. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds may be used for housing, economic development, public infrastructure and public services in its local communities. Programs and projects must benefit low to moderate-income households, individuals or neighborhoods with high percentage of low to moderate-income residents.
CDBG may be used to support a wide array of housing and social services including low-income home repair, public facility construction and rehabilitation, the demolition of unsafe structures, summer youth programs, employment training, and senior services.
