- Starting Pay with NO experience: $ 61,512.00
Lateral Pay up to: $ 69,201.00
Lateral Applicant Qualifying Credentials
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. citizenship established by time of appointment
- Valid Driver’s License (Valid Indiana License by the time of appointment) and has no more than six (6) active points
- No felony convictions or any misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence
- Have legal ability to possess a firearm
- High School Graduate or high school equivalency diploma
- Ability to read and write English
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass all the components of the selection process.
- Merit deputies are required to maintain primary residency within a 20-mile radius of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, 18100 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, IN 46060. Newly hired merit deputies who do not live within the 20-mile radius shall have nine (9) months from their date of hire to meet the residency requirement.
- No convictions for Operating While Intoxicated or operating under the influence of drugs within the previous five (5) years
- Shall not have been dishonorably discharged from the military
- Shall not have used an illegal drug in the last three (3) years
- Meet one of the following:
A) ILEA Tier I graduate
B) Graduate from another Indiana academy recognized by the ILETB as equivalent to Tier I
C) Eligible to receive a waiver from ILEA for Tier I, https://secure.in.gov/ilea - Meet one of the following:
A) Currently employed as a Law Enforcement Officer
B) Meet the IC 5-1-2-9 Rules - Have a minimum of 2 years of Law Enforcement experience

A) completed at least 60 credit hours or equivalent from an accredited postsecondary college or university
B) two (2) years military experience
C) two (2) years prior law enforcement experience (to include correctional and law enforcement reserve experience) - Ability to read and write English
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass all the components of the selection process including the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Exit Physical Standards
