Hamilton County Investigations Office Door


The Investigations Division of the Sheriff's Office is composed of a Captain, a Lieutenant, a Sargent, 6 Detectives, and 3 Civilian employees. The Criminal Investigations Division is tasked with investigating all crimes reported to the Sheriff's Office along with maintaining the Sex Offender Registry, Intelligence Based Policing, and assisting other investigative units from both within the county and outside of Hamilton County which have investigations that carry over into our jurisdiction.


The agency currently has detectives assigned to the Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force as well as the Indianapolis Metropolitan Drug Task Force. These detectives handle the investigation of drug trafficking affecting Hamilton County and the surrounding areas.

The agency has one detective assigned to the Hamilton County Metro Child Exploitation Task Force. This multi agency unit is affiliated with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). To learn more about ICAC and internet safety visit

Crime Lab/ Property

The Crime Lab is comprised of 2 Detectives who are responsible for the collection, preservation, and presentation of evidence in criminal cases. Property may be released by appointment. 317-773-1872
