Multi-Disciplinary Team

The Multi-Disciplinary Team works toward handling child abuse cases within the county through the use of best practices, which include an team effort by several different competencies.  The goal of the team is to determine as accurately as possible the truthful facts pertinent to each report or investigated incident in order to prevent unwarranted suspicion or accusations, as well as to assist in successful prosecution where warranted while treating children with dignity and respect and minimizing secondary trauma that has been historically associated with child abuse investigations.

The MDT is comprised of several members:

  • The Cherish Center

  • Hamilton Co. Dept. of Child Services

  • Hamilton Co. Prosecuting Attorney
  • Law Enforcement Agencies (Arcadia Police Dept. Carmel Police Dept., Cicero Police Dept., Fishers Police Dept., Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police, Noblesville Police Dept., Sheridan Police Dept., and Westfield Police Dept.)
  • Others on an ad hoc basis (e.g., victim/witness advocates, medical personnel, psychiatric/psychological services, mental health providers).
The Cherish Center, which is operated by Advocates for Children and Families, Inc.,  is the MDT's Child Advocacy Center.
