The Investigations Division of the Sheriff's Office is composed of a Captain, a Sergeant, 7 Detectives, 3 Civilian employees and 2 Reserve Deputies. The Criminal Investigations Division is staffed by 6 Detectives and 2 Reserve Deputies who are tasked with the investigation of all crimes reported to the Sheriff's Office along with maintaining the Sex Offender Registry, Intelligence Based Policing, and assisting other investigative units from both within the county and outside of Hamilton County which have investigations that carry over into our jurisdiction.
The agency currently has detectives assigned to the Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force as well as the Indianapolis Metropolitan Drug Task Force. These detectives handle the investigation of drug trafficking affecting Hamilton County and the surrounding areas.
The Crime Lab is comprised of a Detective and 2 civilian employees who are responsible for the collection, preservation, and presentation of evidence in criminal cases.
